Don’t! You’ll break everything.
I was sitting on a train. The morning sun was shining so bright that reading my e-mail was impossible. Luckily, there’s an entertaining feature in trains: You get to listen what other passengers are talking.
On the other side of the aisle, at a four-seat table, there was a group commuting to work. A guy was engaged in a telephone conference and was occasionally talking with his colleagues who were sitting next to him.
After the conference call ended, he plugged out the 4G USB stick and started to pack.
‘Don’t tell me you just unplugged the stick?!’ his colleague yelled. ‘Do you have any idea what might break? The VPN and e-mail apps. What about our ERP?! You first need to turn off the connection from the menu, then remember to unplug the stick and only after that turn off the machine!’
I cannot help but wonder, why do consumers and clients even need to worry about that?
“What if” seems to be missing from the vocabulary of too many product developers.
